Ontario 2024 Summer Student Jobs List Out

Are you looking for a summer job provided by the Ontario government next year? The government has just opened up the job board for 2024.

Every year, the Ontario provincial government hires thousands of people for temporary student jobs. These jobs typically run from May till end of August – from about six to 18 weeks.

The jobs are offered by various ministries.

For 2024, the government just introduced the types of jobs it is looking for.

Salary

CAD 16.55 to CAD 17.40 per hour.

Who Can Apply?

You must meet all eligibility criteria to apply.

  • Enrolled in a secondary or a post-secondary institution (it is acceptable that you are enrolled for the upcoming 2024 fall semester) or have graduated within the past six months.
  • At least 15 years f age though for some jobs you have to be at least 18. There is no maximum age limit.
  • A legal resident of Ontario during the employment term
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada with a valid social insurance number (SIN)
  • Application must be submitted online through the job ad for which you are applying. The application should explain how you meet the eligibility requirements.

Go to the Ontario Summer Employment Opportunities site. Scroll to where the job listing is located and click on the appropriate link/links.

What Happens After

Once you hit ‘submit’ and the application has gone through, you will be taken to a new page with ‘Thank you for applying’ message.

And you will also receive a confirmation to the email you have provided, in case you provided one.

Processing and decision making is done after the deadline passes. Typically, it can take between 2-5 weeks for you to know but sometimes it can take longer.

If you are selected, you will be called for an interview. It is possible that you will be called for multiple interviews for multiple jobs, based on your application/your qualifications/experience.

If you want to be notified when there is a new student job posted, do the following:

  • Visit the Ontario Job Alerts page
  • Enter your name and email address
  • Under the “Job Category” section, select “Student Summer Employment Opportunities” (to be alerted of student positions, select “<$40,000” under the “minimum salary” section)
  • Select a subscription length of “9 months” in order to receive an alert when there are new jobs posted. Click submit
