Canada has introduced a new form for those who want to apply for a study permit to come to the country to pursue their higher studies.
The new form, the study permit application form IMM1294, must be used by students who apply for their study permit after December 01, 2023. Immigration officers will not process the older forms.
The study permit is granted once the student gets admission to an educational institution and they can satisfy the visa officer that their studies in Canada will meet their personal and career goals, and that they have the financial means to pursue their studies.
Generally, all those who want to pursue a program that is more than six months in duration at a Canadian designated learning institution (DLI) must apply and receive their study permit.
